Dealing with Difficult People

How To Handle The People You Don't Like To Come Across

During any day you come across a wide range of people. Some will be just like you - intelligent, reasonable, calm.

But others will be “ difficult “. They won’t see the world your way, they may be hard to talk to, uncooperative, bad - tempered.

Tempting as it may be to just ignore them, you have to deal with them. After all, they may be your boss! Or your clients.

The thing is, most people don't go out of their way to be difficult. They don't even think they are ( in fact, they might think you're the one who's difficult ). Often it's just that they have a different way of looking at things to you.

Sometimes just adapting your usual approach can work wonders.

This course will examine what makes people “ difficult “ and how you can learn to handle them.

This course can include:

  • what makes people “ difficult“?
  • the foundations of behaviour – beliefs, values, perception and intention
  • different types of characters – bullies, shrinking violets, cynics, underperformers
  • different communication styles
  • how to recognise, and respond to, different kinds of personality
  • techniques to use with different kinds of people
  • characteristics of assertive behaviour - what to do and say
  • when to be assertive and when not to
  • how to deal with people’s reactions
