Successful Performance Appraisals

How To Develop And Motivate People Through Effective Appraisals

Aren’t some performance appraisals a waste of time?

The person giving the appraisal doesn’t want to say anything that could cause offence so he or she skates around the issues. The other person just wants to get out of the room without hearing anything unpleasant.

Or there’s the other scenario.

The person giving the appraisal decides to be blunt and hits the other person between the eyes with a frank assessment of their performance. Result – hackles rise, conflict, confrontation…

This course will show you how to use performance appraisals successfully - to develop and motivate the people who work for you.

No – one really likes feedback, especially when it’s not entirely positive.

But there are ways of dealing with it which can avoid the tears and tantrums.

The point is - people need feedback. They don’t always appreciate it, but they need it.

Why? Because everyone needs to know how they’re doing, otherwise they tend to worry about it. Also, they need to be told if there are areas where they can develop so they can improve their performance.

They also need clear, challenging objectives so that they know what's expected of them.
