Do You Ever Feel Your Training Just Isn't Quite Hitting The Mark?

Are You Looking For Some New Ideas To Make It More Effective?

Have you been training for some time, but you're still using the same methods you did years ago?

Is your training based mainly on PowerPoint slides ( the high - tech equivalent of " chalk and talk " )?

Do you worry that your training doesn't engage and excite your participants?

Here's a chance to learn some new techniques to liven up your training and make it far more effective!

Training these days is about much more than presenting information.

  • It's based on a knowledge of how the brain works, how people learn and remember

  • It's about understanding that people have different learning styles and preferences

  • It's about getting people active and involved, not leaving them docile and passive

  • It's about being a facilitator rather than a presenter

  • It's about making learning interactive, stimulating and FUN!

Would you like to know how to do that?

This programme will give you a thorough understanding of how to make any training event effective and engaging.

Whether beginners or experienced trainers, everyone will take away new ideas and techniques guaranteed to improve their performance.

" A thoroughly enjoyable course. Although I have been training for a number of years I have learned many things which will be put into practice. Thank you Alan, an excellent course. "  Alan Jones, University of Wales

It is based on my own experience of 8 years in teaching and 17 years in training and development. It will give you practical tips which you can use immediately to make your training more successful.

And, practising what I preach, it will be active, entertaining and fun!

Don't take my word for it - here are some comments from recent courses:

The Course Material

The final content will be based on discussions with you to determine your needs and will depend on the length of the course.

But all courses will focus on two key areas:

  1. How to get your participants to WANT to learn ( as, without this, nothing else will work anyway )
  2. How ( and why ) to make learning interactive

Here are the areas which the course can cover.

How People Learn

  • the characteristics of adult learners
  • how to deal with potential barriers to learning
  • 10 ways to turn reluctant adults into willing learners
  • why you MUST build rapport with your group - and how to do it
  • how the brain takes in and retains information - and how to use this to give your training extra impact
  • the learning cycle - what it is and how to build it into your training
  • learning styles - understanding the major learning styles so you can design training which works for everyone

  • how to engage people from the beginning
  • how to structure a session so that your key points stand out

  • 10 - 15 minute practice sessions where participants can receive direct individual feedback from the group and the facilitator

Maximum group size for 2 or 3 day courses - 8 people. ( With a group of 8, each participant will deliver one practice session. With a group of 4 or 5, each person will be able to deliver 2 practice sessions. )

A 3 Stage Programme

As any trainer knows, the problem with training courses is what happens afterwards. Often the answer is - nothing!

What is learned during the course often drains away as soon as people leave the room - unless it is reinforced.

That is why this package is more than just a training course.

There are actually 3 stages involved.

Stage 1 - Before the course

  • discussion to determine the needs of the organisation and the individuals involved
  • pre -course questionnaires sent out to each participant to find out exactly what they want to get from the course
  • a welcome pack sent to give everyone more information about the course and to tell them what they can expect ( including a brief to help them prepare their practice sessions )
Stage 2 - During the course

  • 1, 2 or 3 days of stimulating and challenging content as outlined above
  • the course will be highly interactive, engaging, entertaining and practical
  • dozens of tips and techniques based on years of experience of what actually works when training
  • individual feedback ( on 2 or 3 day courses ) for each participant to help them identify their current strengths and development areas
  • high quality supporting materials in a comb - bound workbook
Stage 3 - After the course

  • free email and telephone follow up for all participants so they can ask any questions which arise after the course
  • follow up materials sent out to each participant in the weeks after the course to recap key points, test their recall and reinforce their learning

Please Note - this programme is currently only offered as an in - house course for organisations, not as a public course for individuals.
